  • Oversized loads permitted on the road from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset
  • Travel permits are valid for and must be used within seven days
  • Sunday travel is generally not permitted unless specifically authorized

Saturday Travel

On Saturdays, travel is restricted to the hours between 9 am and 3 pm.

Holiday Restrictions

No travel allowed on the following holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

Important: Complete all travel by noon on the day before and avoid travel until noon on the day after major holidays.

Signage Requirements

  • Required for shipments over 12 feet wide, with or without overhang
  • “Oversize Load” signs must be displayed at the front and rear of the vehicle
  • Sign specifications:
    • Large, legible black letters (at least 1 and ½ inches thick)
    • Bright yellow background
    • Signs should be at a height no less than 12 feet

Flag Protocol

  • For loads over 12 feet wide, four flags are required
  • Flags should be placed in each corner of the shipment
  • Use orange or red flags

Lighting Guidelines

  • Loads between 12 feet and 14 feet wide: Single amber-colored strobe light required at the vehicle’s rear
  • Loads larger than 14 feet: Rotating amber light required on each corner of the shipment
